We need block captains in our subdivision. They would be responsible for patrolling the streets at different times, preferably during their regular walking hours and report all suspicious activities to the Chairperson and Sgt. Castro.

Clermont Police Department is offering the following services:

1         Vial of life program

Medical history, preferred hospital, medications and allergies for every family member in the house is written on a form and placed in a vial. The vial is stored in the refrigerator door. Participating homes will place a small sticker on front window. If 911 is called, paramedics will retrieve vial from refrigerator before administering treatment.

2         Elderly persons with dementia

Individuals can obtain bracelets with assigned numbers. This number corresponds with personal information obtained and stored in a database. Missing person with the bracelet can be easily reunited with family.

3         Property ID Engraver

Drivers’ license number can be engraved on personal property to identify ownership if lost or stolen…i.e. TV, Computers, and Electronics…etc.

4         Security Survey

Officers will visit residence for the purposes of conducting security check and to make recommendations. Secure windows, doors, proper lighting, security system, and pruning edges.

Sgt. Castro drove through our sub-division and noticed garage doors were left open. His recommendations are to keep garage door close at all times when not in use, lock doors when you leave to walk your dog, and always set your alarm whenever you leave your home.

Bulletin-Posted May 20, 2008

Just wanted to remind every one for the _______time please lock your vehicles when parked at your homes. We have had several vehicles in the Montverde area broken into that were left unlocked. Another weapon is on the street because it was left in a unlocked vehicle. Please remind your neighbors and friends to lock there vehicles and never leave things of value in them especially overnight.

Bulletin:

We have had several cars in the Montverde area broken into. Wallets, purses, and a gun were taken ( ALL WERE UNLOCKED). We are still experiencing homes in the highway 27 area south of Leesburg and north of the turnpike being forcibly broken into. All that they are after appears only to be jewelry. Again I suggest that every one take steps to secure your jewelry or at least put in in areas that are not the normal areas such as master bedroom closets or top dresser drawers.

Bulletin:

I just wanted to bring every one up to date on a couple of problems that we are seeing in Lake County. We are starting to see a lot of what we call scam pavers. This is a group of people that are going around and attempting to sell you some sort of a re-paving job. First of all any one that is soliciting in Lake County is required to have a Home Solicitation> Permit issued by the Clerk of the Court, and if in a city they must also have a city permit. If some one approaches you and try's to sell you a service that you did not make the initial contact yourself or through a second party and they approach you they are required to have this permit. If they do not have this permit call us or your local police.  And remember there are hundreds of hundreds of different fraud type scams out there. please never give any of your personal information to any one that you did not initiate the contact for a legitimate service. Remember, no one is going to give you something for nothing especially a stranger.
